I decided it was time to replace my stock clutch at just over 50k. All4 Countryman are known to eat up clutches. After talking to fellow miniacs and my mechanic, I assessed this clutch would be perfect for my still stock power level. I was worried that this clutch would be overkill for a stock R60, but it is absolutely perfect! It bites way better than stock and is much smoother. The car also revs faster. On pulls it bites hard after shifts. This is how a car like this should feel! Before it would slip for a 1/4-1/2 a second before everything was fully pressed together.
I'm really in love with this clutch! Hopefully it will last a long time!
There's some gear chatter but not as much as there would be with an AL FW. Still livable but sometimes present. Every once in a while my car gets stuck in gear. My mechanic believes that to be with the hydraulics, and I plan to get a re-bleed soon. I doubt this is an issue with the clutch since it is apparently very hard for people to bleed Mini's clutch hydraulics. If you are looking to replace your clutch I highly suggest replacing the master and slave cylinder. My slave was leaking on my original setup. Shops won't tell you to do it, but I highly suggest it.
It's harder to feather the clutch at stock power levels, so you primarily have to feather the gas as possible.
The pedal weight feels pretty close to the DMF system that was in the car. I believe the FX300 kit is still a lighter pedal feel. It was very light the first 70 miles but it changed a bit and now it feels better!
If you have an All4 spec Countryman with performance of a Cooper S and above I highly recommend this kit!
Happy to be part of the ClutchMasters family!
